Superconducting qubits: state of the art, current limitations and future challenges
Quantum computing has garnered a sizeable attention both within and outside the academic world. Currently, several technologies are being developed in the attempt to create the first quantum computer with impactful applications.
This talk will give an introduction over a specific approach, the superconducting qubits, focusing on their current performances and limitations. The talk will also offer a perspective on the challenges awaiting at the horizon, with a particular focus on the interplay between ionizing radiation and superconducting qubits. In this context, the experimental activities involving IFAE and LSC will be described with an emphasis on the short and long-term goals.
