A cleanroom is a room in which the concentration of airbone particles and other parameters (temperature, relative humidity and preasure) are controlled and its construction and use minimize the particles introduction, generation and retention.

A cleanroom has a controlled level of contamination specified by the number and size of particles permitted per volume of air. The ISO-14644 standard establishes the denotation of the clean room class according to the number of particles of size 0.5 µm or larger permitted per cubic meter of air. To give perspective, the ambient air outside in a typical urban environment contains 35,000,000 particles per cubic meter in the size range 0.5 µm and larger in diameter, corresponding to an ISO 9 cleanroom, while an ISO 6 or ISO 7 cleanroom allows no more than 352.000 or 35.200 particles, respectively.

The LSC cleanroom with an area of 45m2 is divided into a dressing room (4,5m2), room 1 and room 2. Thus it´s possible to work into two different scenarios:

  • Scenario 1: room 1 plus room 2, class ISO 7, total area 35,5m2.
  • Scenario 2: room 1 class ISO 7 (23,5m2) and room 2 class ISO 6 (12m2).
