The HK telescope will detect neutrinos thanks to 22 000 photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) placed inside the tank. To avoid the possible chain break-up of these, it is essential to find the optimal design of a cover that absorbs the shockwave that is produced after a PMT breaks up.
A total of 20 scientists and technicians from Spain and Japan met on 2 and 3 April in Barcelona to discuss different cover designs.
After this meeting we are one step closer to the final design and the start of mass production.
